How much fluid and sodium do you need?
Calculate an approximate fluid and sodium loss — either by estimating based on your upcoming session, or based on an already measured value after training.
The calculation is a general estimate based on type of training, duration, body weight, intensity, temperature, and weather conditions. Fluid and sodium loss are shown as ranges because sweat rate and sodium concentration in sweat vary greatly between individuals. The recommended intake per hour is intentionally lower than the total loss, for safety reasons — but the number of sachets is always based on the entire estimated sodium loss for the session length, not the more conservative hourly intake, so that the need is not underestimated. Each ELECT portion sachet contains 1,000 mg of sodium. Consider the result as a guideline, not an exact or medical recommendation.
The calculation is based on your measured sweat volume and a selected sodium profile (low/average/high salt content), which is a simplification of the actual sodium concentration in your sweat. The replacement range of 70–100% is a more conservative recovery recommendation, but the number of sachets is always based on the entire measured sodium loss — not just the replacement amount — so that the need is not underestimated. Each ELECT portion sachet contains 1,000 mg of sodium. Consider the result as a guideline, not an exact or medical recommendation. You can find your sweat loss in, for example, Garmin Connect or your Coros profile, or estimate it by weighing yourself before and after training.

What are electrolytes?
Electrolytes are minerals that get an electrical charge when dissolved in the body’s fluids. Some of the body’s most important electrolytes are sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
Electrolytes have different functions in the body. Magnesium contributes, among other things, to electrolyte balance and normal muscle function. Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and the normal function of the nervous system.
The body gets electrolytes through food and drink, but at the same time loses both fluids and electrolytes when we sweat.
What are electrolytes good for?
Electrolytes are especially relevant in connection with physical activity, hot weather, and other situations where you sweat a lot.
When you sweat, the body mainly loses fluids and sodium. How much you lose varies from person to person and is influenced by factors such as workout duration, intensity, temperature, and individual sweat rate.
An electrolyte powder makes it easy to add fluids along with selected minerals before, during, or after training.

How much sodium do you lose when you train?
How much sodium you lose through sweat varies greatly from person to person. It is affected by factors such as type of training, intensity, duration of the session, your body weight, and temperature and weather conditions – a hard session in the heat normally results in significantly greater loss than a calmer session in cool weather.
Since sweating rate and sodium concentration in sweat differ between individuals, it's not possible to give an exact figure that applies to everyone. As a starting point, each ELECT single-serving sachet contains 1,000 mg of sodium.

What is the difference between oral rehydration solution and electrolytes?
Oral rehydration solution is specifically formulated with salts and sugar in fixed proportions and is typically used for fluid loss associated with, for example, diarrhea or vomiting.
ELECT is an electrolyte powder developed for adult athletes and active individuals who lose fluid and minerals through sweat. Each serving contains sodium, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin C. Our products are not intended to treat dehydration due to illness and do not replace traditional oral rehydration solutions.
Can children drink ELECT?
No, we do not recommend our products for children. ELECT is developed for adult athletes and contains 1,000 mg of sodium per single-serving sachet. Children should instead drink oral rehydration solutions specifically formulated and dosed for children. In case of illness, vomiting, diarrhea, or signs of dehydration, medical recommendations should be followed.
How sodium, potassium, and magnesium work in the body
Sodium is the body's most important extracellular electrolyte and is crucial for fluid balance, nerve impulses, and muscle function. Potassium largely works inside the cells and is important for muscle contraction and a steady heart rhythm. Magnesium is involved in a large number of enzymatic reactions in the body, including energy metabolism and muscle relaxation. Together, these minerals regulate how fluid moves between cells and the bloodstream, which is one reason why water alone is not always enough to restore balance after an intense and sweaty workout.
The risk of only drinking water
During long and intense sessions, it's not always enough to just replenish with water. If you drink more than you lose without simultaneously replenishing sodium, you risk so-called hyponatremia, a condition where the sodium level in the blood becomes too low. Electrolytes, oral rehydration solution, or sports drink – what's the difference?
All three are mixed with water, but they are formulated for different purposes. Oral rehydration solution is primarily developed to treat fluid loss due to illness, sports drinks are mainly developed for energy replenishment with carbohydrates, while an electrolyte powder like ELECT is developed specifically to replace sodium and minerals that healthy, active adults lose through sweat during exercise.
